Ready or not, it's 2009

Despite my team's loss on New Year's Day, 2009 has been off to an exciting start. RTP and I bought our first Christmas tree at an after-Christmas sale. It even has pine cones. We are going to be so festive next Christmas! We also bought a new bookshelf for the apartment and did a little rearranging of furniture. RTP has a long list of resolutions, one of which is losing weight, so we will start South Beach this week. We want to be looking our best by JP's big bash in Chicago.

January is off to a quick start professionally as rehearsals have begun for my recitals at Troy and the Florida Flute Fair. It's so great to play with one of my old friends, Hui-Ting. I'm also getting organized for the MKC interview. The whole idea of interviewing one of my former teachers and then writing an article for FT seems like a daunting task. Luckily for me, RTP has done a lot of interviews recently, so at least I can get some help with that part.

It seems that the music field is very multi-faceted. You have to generate your own projects all of the time and this article is just one aspect. I have to decide fairly soon if I'm entering a competition this year and there may be a conference presentation in March. I also want to begin playing some chamber music with cello and piano, so lots of ideas for 2009. Better get to work!
